Womens March in Hayward

  • Corner of HWY 63 and HWY 27 15831 US Highway 63 Hayward, WI, 54843 United States (map)
Dear Members and Friends:

For those of you living in Sawyer County or in the southern part of Ashland or Bayfield Counties, we want you to know that there will also be a Women’s March in Hayward. I know several of our members and friends on this email list will be there. Please see the details below:

On Saturday, January 18, at the corner of Highway 63 and 27 beginning at 11 am in Hayward Wisconsin, women and their allies will gather to march in solidarity with marches around the world. They welcome the community to march with them. The route will cross 63 at the light then heading up U.S. Highway 63 to Main Street, then walk up Main Street to the circle in front of the Sawyer County Court House for speeches and song and then return to the start.

The Women’s March has knitted together a powerful movement of people who share a common belief that freedom is for everyone, without exception. For three years, women have persisted and have rallied in the streets. In peaceful demonstration, they communicate to end attacks on reproductive health and reproductive rights, attacks on our immigrant communities, and attacks on our planet. On January 18th, 2020, women from across the country will again gather, speak, and take leadership to make change happen.

Since 2017 the Women’s March has inspired hundreds of women to run for office and win and millions more to vote. The 2020 March marks three years of building power, training new activists, and taking seats at the table of all levels of government. The march honors those who have marched before, all those who march as allies, and the Ojibwa land we call home. The march continues to inspire civic involvement and hold our country’s leaders accountable for policies that accurately reflect the will of the voters.

All people who join in should dress for the weather and make and bring signs to carry. The Hayward Police Department and Sheriff have been made aware of this march. Marchers will stay on city sidewalks and not disrupt traffic.

For March 2020 details you may contact Pamela Osborne at 303-887-7759.

With warm wishes,
Anne
