"My point is that to give up hope is not just to deny the possibilities of the future. It is also to deny the lessons of the past. The world can change. And does change. And what seemed almost impossible looking forward can seem almost inevitable looking back." Ric Young
Join us for a Women's March on January 18th in solidarity with actions around the globe. The 2017 Women’s March inspired hundreds of women to run (and win!) and millions more to vote. The 2020 Women’s March marks three years of building power, three years of training new activists, and three years of taking our seat at the table and making change.
But our work is far from over! We must continue to engage power at all levels of government in order to ensure our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people (President Lincoln had way with words!). This is no small feat — bringing progressive values back to Madison and Washington DC — and it requires creativity, nimble and strategic thinking, as well as a resolute belief that progressive values are American values, not an esoteric or idealistic framework.
Marching together on the 18th is a place to start, or to continue, this important work — recognizing that, as Vandana Shiva said, "Living democracy grows like a tree, from the bottom up." Everyone is welcome at our march!!
*****Help us write a collective story about rising up, standing together, and working towards a world rooted in compassion, equity, and gratitude! Write down why you are marching and how you will bring that intention to life in 2020. Bring it with you and we'll collect and transcribe them into a manifesto written by the good and fierce hearted people of the Chequamegon Bay and beyond!*****
We'll meet in the parking lot at the Bay Area Civic Center (320 4th St W) at 10 AM and we'll march up Ellis to Northland College where we will gather in the Alvord Theater to hear our speakers.
