Election results are in. Congratulations to the winners, with sincere appreciation for all who ran for office.
It is now time for us to thank our municipal clerks and poll workers for Making Democracy Work!
A huge shout out to those of you who helped out at polling places on election day.
Tuesday, April 12 has been designated Thank Election Heroes Day!
We are joining a nationwide nonpartisan action day to let those who make elections possible know how much we value all their work.
Our plan locally is for all municipal clerks in Ashland, Bayfield and Sawyer Counties to receive a thank you card. Some have already been mailed in Sawyer County!
This will be a great time to thank your local clerk in some fashion. We will be glad to know if you do.
In Ashland, we will gather in front of the Courthouse at 12:30 to hold appreciative signs while one of us goes inside to personally drop off a card and flowers in the County Clerk's office. At 1 we will do the same in City Hall.
Being visible, we make it known that we trust our election workers and thus, our election results.
If any of you would like to do something similar in your local community, please get someone to take a picture so we can document these small but meaningful efforts to applaud the significant contributions of our municipal clerks and their helpers.
Voter Services Co-Chairs Anne achartiercoates@gmail.com and Diane koolake@gmail.com will gladly answer questions.
Best wishes for you and yours as we strive for peace and justice.
