From July 26 email

Dear Bayfield Friends and Members of the League

Zoom Meeting Monday, July 27, 1 pm.

Sorry this is late.

This meeting is about Aug 26 celebrations in Bayfield. Join us! You are welcome if you are interested or want to help. No worries if you can't, you can email me your interest. Below is the list of topics we need to discuss.:

The link for zoom should come out soon from Sue N......Meeting July 27

A few thoughts and re-direction from our last meeting.  The State League asks us to think about the Pandemic being at its worst. So social Distance, masks, and no large gatherings.

What we know: Church Bells will ring at noon. Steering committee is asking every person to ring bells from wherever their place is. Our State President says we have permission to make a ruckus, so no bell? Sound your horns or beat your drums.

Take a picture and collect them for facebook, website, etc.

VOTE Masks are being prepared. Fabric is being passed on to sewers as I write this. We will get about 25 in Bayfield. We are asking for a donation to pay for the fabric.

Voter services material will be available including signs. Joyce has Bayfield Voter Materials Box. Margie is ordering more materials and yard signs.

Centennial display will happen at the Library and the Chamber Kiosk. If anyone wants to help with either of these display, please let me know.

Lucy will write a poem for this occasion.

To be further discussed:The Program at Memorial Park is not recommended. In talking with Mary Brigh we thought about our Bayfield group getting together after the event to celebrate and begin the discussion about what we can do in Bayfield for voting in November. I think that remains to be seen regarding Pandemic recommendations. Can we do this safely? Only Bayfield Leaguers which could be about 20.

Our walk to Memorial Park then is also off.

In talking with Mary Hassett Gabrys we talked about the car parade idea again. That would be socially distanced/ persons masked. Maybe we can get local business or leaders to support us and join us. Maybe get Red Cliff with Native Vote signs. Decorations and signs needed. I got a call from Gayle Chatfield that there is a Women’s biking group that was planning a ride that day to celebrate. Maybe they could join us. I have sent email but not heard back from them. Maybe start at Eckels Pot Shop (OR Howl) go through town and around and up Many Penny or Washington (OR through Red Cliff?)?  This would be during or after the bells? We would have Police escort. Since horns might sound, My thought was to wait for the 19 bells rings at local churches. We would not want to make this some big event drawing a large crowd, but something that those in town will notice and hopefully cheer us on.

Another idea is to have Suffragists on street corners with bells and a basket of flyers if anyone wants to take one. Hayward is doing Burma Shave signs so having for them could be: Celebrate, 100 years, 19th Amendment, VOTE!Publicity. The Steering committee is designing and copying off posters (Using the Gala poster). We will receive them and Nancy you can put them up around town? There will be white space at the bottom for us to write our local activities.

Bayfield needs to have something in the Chamber Blast and local bulletin boards like churches, etc.  We can send something to the Bayfield Blast, deadlines are Wednesday morning for Thursday publishing. That means August 5, 12, 19. Remember: Social Distancing Rules apply, Please Wear a Mask! And we will have some for purchase!

Have FUN! Celebrate!I will be on Vacation from July 31 - August 15 — Will someone be point person in case someone from the steering committee needs to connect?

Thanks everyone for your input and help pulling this off.  DianneJudd
